2:27p First finished project of 2010 I started this before the holiday but only managed to finish it now. The basis for it were the varying shades of creams and browns which I used in a table runner for my guy's mother's xmas present. I don't use this color palette often and didn't know what to do with the left material. Then I found some brick reddish brown fabric and put it together with the blue border. It reminds me of a candy/chocolate box so I put cherries as backing. Now I am trying to decide what to call it... Next I am determined to teach myself how to do One Block Wonders. Happy 2010 everybody! I am glad we have this community! X-posted to quilting quilt_nerds

10:28p How to make cotton fabric sturdier to become a purse? I found some really cute fabric in the quilting department of Jo Ann Fabrics and I would love to have a purse made out of it. Since I'm not the fastest sewer I would like it to last and quilting cotton feels really thin. I was wondering if there was anything I could put on it to help protect it. I have some acrylic painting sealer somewhere (I tried to look for it so I could give a name, but I can't find it). I wonder if that would help. current mood: creative

10:35a MY BACK HURTS AND I GOT MY RAG A WEEK EARLY AND THIS WEEDGOD\FORSAKEN TOWN IS GOING TO KILL ME. other than that i brought in my new years/spent the first day driving to manitowoc and eating cheese curds with my dad, listening to rap music, and visiting my dying aunt. after ten minutes she was like..ok, thanks for coming, ya'll gotta go. and she was wearing a hospital gown, and pearls. 'cause she keeps it classy. then we took the dogs out for a run. then napped. then i watched star wars with patrick, went to comedy sportz, got too toned, slept at mary's house, ate delicious rice (and can now, theoretically, cook rice), got a ride home from my dad, listened to music, drew, babysat, watched the fuck outta some twilight zone, kozzy and tomcheck visited, and all was right in the world. now i'm going to science and surplus. what, what?

1:15a 2 homemade presents These are 2 presents I made my boyfriend for Christmas. I don't have pictures of the other home made things yet. I don't think I'll get pics of the Little Mermaid bookmarks I made though. (1 sheet of nice Little Mermaid paper from A.C. Moore, cut 2 pieces the same size 2.5-4" long and 1-2.5" wide, glue back to back, round the corners, hole punch the top, string with strands of floss and tie as wanted.) Coupons I cut a piece of construction paper into 6 cards and punched holes in the upper corner (I used one of the pieces as a guide by notching out the corner and marking with a pencil). Gave them mostly silly titles and tried to get a lot of variety. There are things like making the meal myself, he gets to control the tv all day, end a conversation, and 2 random choice ones. Little bit of ribbon to tie them together and done! Cookies I can't remember the name, but I got the recipe from Woman's Day. It uses a puff pastry sheet with cinnamon, sugar, and pumpkin spice. Slicing them was hard because they're so thin, and I over cooked some. But he likes them! (And I get to eat the ones that are too well done for him.) 4:05p i want to convey to the internet, and my future self trolling these posts, how nice last night was, but i can't even think of a better adjective than "nice" at the moment. this is tempered the following things that are kind of nagging me. one: i can't find my sketchbook and i didn't leave it at the bar last night, cause i called. two: i still don't have a phone charger, so can't get a hold of anyone or be gotten a hold of. three: you shouldn't have sex with your cousin. or should you? four: i came home and ate a giant bowl of soup out of the fridge and didn't realize it tasted bad until after. it's months old and i totally botulismed myself. so now i have pooping in my pants to look forward to this evening. five: my mom told me i have to make cookies tomorrow, and i need to figure out what to make and go to the grocery store now, and shit. but mostly i am thrilled to see people and stealing some of them to minneapolis again. oh, and i met the most handsome man on the bus. he's a barista and lives in seward and grew up in bayview. seward is to the west bank what bayview is to riverwest. so he gets it or whatever. we're going to hang out when i get back. i'm going to watch some more AMERICAN TELEVISION now. yep.
